“It’s not about fixing yourself. It’s about coming home.”

A Gentle Path Back to Yourself

When life feels heavy or you need a little time to yourself, flower essences can become part of a simple ritual to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters to you.

Sometimes a little time for yourself can change how you move through the day.

We all go through seasons when we need a little more time to pause and reflect. A few quiet minutes can give you space to notice what you're feeling, think about what matters to you, and decide what you want to carry forward.

Hawaiian flower essences can be part of that personal practice. Each essence is connected to a particular flower, name, and intention, giving you a simple way to choose something that feels meaningful to you.

Our work with the flowers of Hawaiʻi is rooted in the teachings Joy Johnson and Melia Goodenow received from their teachers. We were taught to approach the plants with prayer, ask permission before gathering, take only what is needed, and give thanks.

In Hawaiian tradition, mana can refer to spiritual power or life-giving force. We honor this understanding with respect for the plants, the land, and the teachings that have been passed down to us.

How Flower Essences Work

The Quiet Power of Nature

Flower essences are part of a tradition that looks to flowers and plants as more than something we see and enjoy. They invite us to pay attention to the qualities we associate with the natural world and to bring that awareness into our own lives.

In the practice of vibrational healing, an essence is used as a subtle part of a personal ritual. Taking a few drops can become a simple reminder to pause, reflect, and notice what you're experiencing. For some people, that moment of attention is just as important as the essence itself.

There is no need to force an outcome. A personal ritual can simply give you a few minutes to slow down and listen to yourself.

What does that mean in practice?

It can be as simple as taking a few drops and giving yourself a quiet moment. You might sit with your thoughts, write in a journal, pray, meditate, or spend some time outside. The experience is personal, and there is no single way to make an essence part of your day.

What You May Notice

A Personal Experience

Everyone experiences flower essences differently. The changes are often subtle—not necessarily a dramatic feeling immediately after taking the drops.

You may simply notice that you respond differently. Something that normally frustrates you doesn't bother you quite as much. A thought you've been repeating begins to lose its importance. You see a situation from a new perspective, feel more comfortable expressing what you need, or realize that you're ready to make a different choice.

Sometimes the first shift is simply awareness—recognizing a feeling or pattern you hadn't noticed before. Other times, you may find yourself naturally feeling more of the quality you are working toward: calmer, clearer, more forgiving, confident, motivated, or at peace.

There is no particular feeling you need to have and no experience you need to look for. You might take a few drops and sit quietly, write in your journal, pray, meditate, or simply continue with your day. The meaning you give the ritual is personal to you.

Melia — on Personal Experience

After more than 30 years of working with flower essences, I don't usually tell people to look for a big moment. I tell them to notice the little things. Did something that normally stresses you out feel easier today? Did you respond differently? Did you suddenly see another choice? Were you able to let something go instead of carrying it all day?

Those small moments are important. Sometimes you don't realize how much has shifted until you look back and think, “I don't react to that the way I used to.”

Take a moment. Notice where you are. Let the ritual be your own.

A Different Way of Seeing Nature

The Spiritual Side of Vibrational Healing

At Hawaiian Rainforest Naturals, we believe nature is more than something beautiful to look at. It is alive with mana—life energy—and we are in relationship with it.

For more than 30 years, our family has worked with the flowers and plants of Hawaiʻi Island, guided by teachings passed to us through Hawaiian healers and our own continuing relationship with the land. Our home and work are surrounded by the ʻŌhiʻa Lehua rainforest, native plants, volcanic landscapes, rain, sun, and the powerful natural energy of Hawaiʻi.

Flower essences are a form of vibrational healing. Rather than working through the physical compounds of a plant as an herbal preparation does, they are traditionally understood as carrying the subtle energetic qualities—or vibrational imprint—of the flower.

When we prepare our essences, fresh flowers are gathered with permission, prayer, gratitude, and respect and placed in pure water in the Hawaiian sunlight. We believe the water receives the energetic qualities of the flowers and the environment in which they grow.

But the process is more than making flower water. It is about relationship—with the plant, the land, our intention, and the emotional quality we are seeking to restore.

“ Melia — on Vibrational Healing

We use flower essences as gentle energetic companions for bringing awareness back to the Present Time—right here, right now.

In the present moment, there is an opportunity to see more clearly, reconnect with ourselves, and make a new choice.

That is the deeper purpose behind our flower essences: not to change who you are, but to help you reconnect with the qualities already within you—clarity, courage, compassion, forgiveness, self-love, joy, inner peace, and the ability to move forward.

Is vibrational healing scientific?

Vibrational healing is a traditional, spiritual, and holistic approach rather than an established medical treatment. Our flower essences are offered as part of a personal wellness ritual and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. They are not a substitute for appropriate medical or mental health care.

We honor more than 30 years of our own practice, observation, research, traditional teachings, and experience with flower essences. We have seen lives changed and lived from a new understanding of how life works in Pono.

Choosing the Right Essence

Start With What Matters to You

Each flower essence has its own flower, name, and intention. You might choose Letting Go when you're moving through a change, Self Love when you're focusing on yourself, Relax when you want to create a quieter evening ritual, or Clear Mind when you're looking for a moment to pause and reflect.

You don't have to have everything figured out before choosing one. Start with the name or flower that catches your attention, read about its intention, and see whether it feels relevant to what you're experiencing right now.

Sometimes the simplest place to start is with what you're already thinking about.

Your Journey with the Essences

Make It Your Own Ritual

There is no perfect way to use a flower essence. You might take a few drops in the morning, keep an essence beside your journal, or make it part of a quiet moment before bed. However you choose to use it, let it be something that fits naturally into your day.
